Police: No foul play suspected in death

CARBONDALE (AP) – Carbondale police say they do not suspect foul play in the death of a Southern Illinois University student whose body was found in a wooded area near the school.

The body of 19-year-old Pravin Varughese was found Tuesday, nearly a week after he went missing following a dispute with an acquaintance after accepting a ride.

Carbondale Police Chief Jody O’Guinn said the difficult terrain and low temperatures are believed to have contributed to Varughese’s difficulty finding his way out of the woods.
