HARMON – William D. Thrasher, 78, of Harmon, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at his home.

Bill was born Oct. 10, 1935, in Dixon, the son of Robert and Inez (Allen) Thrasher. He married Shirley Dyche on March 13, 1965, in Walnut. She preceded him in death on Aug. 29, 2001. He was a member of Harmon United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Kimberly (Billy) Bryant of Rock Falls and Christina (Wes) Coan of Flovilla, Ga.; two sons, Rich (Marlee) Cox of Colona and Jim (Jeannie) Cox of Rock Springs, Wyo.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Robert (Eleanor) Thrasher of Dixon; one sister, Lois (Art) Burgess of Harmon; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Margaret Dempsey and family of Harmon.

He also was preceded in death by his parents and six sisters.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A time of sharing will be from 9 to 11 a.m. and the funeral at 11 a.m. Friday at Garland Funeral Home in Walnut, with the Rev. Leanne Keate, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Walnut Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for colon cancer research.
