Sterling officers complete courses

STERLING – Sterling Police Department Sgt. Steven Hubbard has graduated from Northwestern University’s Center for Public Safety.

Hubbard completed the 10-week staff and command program from Sept. 30 through Dec. 13 in Evanston.

The school provides upper-level college instruction in 27 core blocks of instruction and optional blocks during each session.

Topics include leadership, human resources, employee relations, organizational behavior, applied statistics, planning and policy development, budgeting and resource allocation.

Sgt. Robert Allen completed a 20-hour state accredited leadership course Dec. 19 at the Illinois Law Enforcement Executive Training Institute.

The program is designed to guide law enforcement leaders with professional development necessary for successful management and leadership.

Participants were challenged to think strategically take organization to the next level.
