One injured in bike-vehicle crash

STERLING – A Sterling man received non-life-threatening injuries Tuesday when his bicycle was struck by a vehicle.

Whiteside County Sheriff’s deputies responded at 6:05 a.m. at Sixth Avenue and 28th Street. An investigation revealed that David A. Vargas, 56, was southbound on Sixth Avenue when his bicycle was struck by a vehicle driven by Adam Armstrong, 24, of Rock Falls.

Vargas was taken by ambulance to CGH Medical Center in Sterling, where he is in stable condition. Armstrong was arrested on a charge of driving while license suspended and a Whiteside County warrant for failure to appear/pay on a driving under the influence charge. He was taken to Whiteside County Jail.

Info sought in Oregon hit-and-run

OREGON – Oregon police continue to investigate a hit-and-run incident that took place Feb. 7 at the Alfano’s parking lot, 801 S. Fourth St.

The crash involved a parked 2009 GMC belonging to Shannon M. Dodson, 39, of Oregon. Anyone with information is asked to call Oregon police at 815-732-2162.
