Benefit to help woman fight cancer

DIXON – A benefit on Feb. 23 will help a Dixon woman who is fighting breast cancer.

Christine Drew, 49, was diagnosed in October and receives chemotherapy at KSB Hospital. A single mother with six children, two of whom are still at home, she still is able to work at Spectrum Brands in Dixon.

Cassie Riddick, one of Christine’s daughters, said her mother would have surgery in March.

Admission will be free for the benefit from noon to 8 p.m. at The Cooler, 311 W. Second St., Rock Falls. A barbecue plate and buffet will be available. A live and a silent auction will take place, with items that include certificates from restaurants and an autographed Chicago Bulls pendant.

Also planned are a jewelry sale, a 50/50 drawing, and door prizes. Bands Poison Apple and Rout 38 will perform.

Donations are also being accepted at Sauk Valley Bank. Donors can ask for the Christine Drew Benefit Account.
