Francis E. Vock

POLO – Francis E. Vock, 89, of Polo, passed away Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at his home.

He was a truck driver for Teamsters Local 722, retiring in 1983. Francis was a 60-year member of Polo American Legion Post 83, and a lifetime member of Sebring Florida VFW and the Polo VFW. After retiring, he enjoyed going to auctions and collecting antiques.

Francis was born July 3, 1924, in Eagle Point (Polo), the son of Edward and Gertrude (Marschang) Vock. He was united in marriage to Anna Lucile Livingston on Dec. 18, 1952, in Polo. She preceded him in death on Nov. 12, 1997.

He was a veteran of United States Navy, entering the service on July 6, 1944, and serving on the USS Ki Win, USS Liddle and the USS Loy.

Survivors include his daughter, Vicki Patterson of German Valley;  sons Donald (Darlene) Vock and Timmy (Mary) Vock, both of Polo; sisters, Loretta Carroll of Polo, Ruth Forristall of Ohio, Ill., and Dorothy Clothier of Polo; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He also was preceded in death by son-in-law James Patterson, sisters Catherine Hodge, Bernadine Blum, and Eileen Wright, and six brothers-in-law.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Polo Family Funeral Home in Polo. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Polo, with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established. Visit to send condolences.
