Farmers to serve 50-cent breakfast

Published: Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014 1:15 a.m. CDT

DIXON – The Lee County Farm Bureau members will serve their annual Farmer’s Share Breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. March 8 at the Loveland Community House, 513 W. Second St. The cost is 50 cents per plate.

The public relations committee will prepare a breakfas for the actual “farm” value of the breakfast. The menu will include pancakes, sausage, orange juice, milk, and coffee.

The purpose of this breakfast is to help demonstrate to consumers the amount of income the average farmer would receive from a meal like the one being prepared.  On average, between breakfasts prepared at home and in a restaurant, the farmer receives 50 cents from that meal.

Go to or call 815-857-3531 for more information about the breakfast, farm food values or other programs and benefits offered by the Lee County Farm Bureau.
