Deadline extended for machining scholarships

Published: Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014 1:15 a.m. CDT

ROCKFORD – Feb. 17 is the new application deadline for five $1,000 scholarships from the Rock River Valley Tooling and Machining Association.

The deadline was moved from Feb. 1, in part because of weather-related school closings. The scholarships are being offered to high school seniors graduating in 2014.

Those applying must live in Ogle, Whiteside, Boone, Stephenson, or Winnebago counties or Rock or Walworth counties in Wisconsin; be a citizen or documented permanent resident of the U.S.; and intend to study in a manufacturing technology or engineering related major in a community, technical or 4-year college.

To apply, the student should write an essay stating his or her interest in a manufacturing industry career, what led the student to this decision, and the applicant’s career goals after college graduation.

Go to www.rrvtma.com/scholarships to download the application. For more information, contact Don Williams, apprentice administrator, at don_rrvtma@comcast.net or 815-978-3698.
