The List: First and last to report school closings

Published: Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 1:45 p.m. CDT

Maybe there will be another round of school closings coming for Wednesday, or maybe not.

Districts in the Sauk Valley have been busy this winter monitoring weather conditions and deciding whether to call off school. In the past few years, Sauk Valley Media has gotten more involved in that process, sharing with readers via text alerts (click here to sign up) and on Facebook and this website the closings as they are announced.

So we get a feel for which school districts are quick to close, and which take a bit more time. Here, then, are my lists of districts that are fast on the draw and those that take a little more time to contemplate the decision.

DISCLAIMER: These lists are based on only my observations. I think all of our local districts make the calls on school closures in plenty of time. Some would argue that it is better to give that decision some time. Feel free to discuss!
