Two hurt in head-on crash Thursday

OGLE COUNTY – Two people were injured in a head-on collision Thursday on state Route 64 eastbound.

Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies, with state conservation police and Oregon Ambulance staff, responded at 2:50 p.m. An investigation revealed that a Subaru driven by Andrzej Zasadny, 59, of Rockford, was eastbound on Route 64 when his vehicle crossed the center line, striking a Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Benjamin Newcomer, 34, of Oregon.

Newcomer refused treatment. Zasadny was taken to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford by Oregon EMS with a shoulder injury. His condition was unavailable Monday. The accident remains under investigation.

One hurt Friday

in Route 38 crash

OGLE COUNTY – A Rochelle woman received minor injuries Friday in a crash at Chana Road and state Route 38.

Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies, with state police and Ashton fire personnel, responded to the scene at 10:30 p.m. An investigation revealed that a vehicle driven by Laura Kristofferson, 31, was westbound when Kristofferson was unable to negotiate a curve, entering the shoulder and losing control. Her vehicle rolled into the ditch.

Kristofferson was taken to Rochelle Community Hospital for treatment. Her condition was unavailable Monday. She was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and improper lane usage. Kristofferson was issued an individual bond and will appear in court at a later date. The crash remains under investigation.
