ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. – Dr. John M. Bondy, 61, of Arroyo Grande, went home to his Savior on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at Marian Hospital in Arroyo Grande, with his family by his side.

For more than 30 years, John was a doctor of osteopathic medicine at the Sterling-Rock Falls Clinic and CGH Medical Center in Sterling, and the Whiteside County Health Department in Rock Falls. His most recent practice was in Paso Robles, Calif.

His religious devotion led him to dedicate many hours to a bereavement ministry. He was an active member of his Bible study and charismatic groups at St. Mary’s Church in Sterling and at St. Patrick Church in Arroyo Grande. If not at church, John could be found tending to his beautiful garden at home or cheering on the Jayhawks as a University of Kansas (KU) alumnus. John’s compassionate and generous soul affected everyone he met. He always had a smile on his face and great words of wisdom for anyone who needed it.

John’s presence will now bless his surviving loved ones from heaven: his wife of 32 years, Teri; their beloved daughters, Nicole, 28, and Natalie, 20; brothers, Ray (Chris), Paul, and Robert (Jamie); and sisters, Rose (Chris) Booth, Lea (Jan) Goldsmith, and Geralyn (Carlisle) Bergquist.

He was preceded in death by his father, Earl, and mother, Irene, both of Salina, Kan.

The rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday and the celebration of Mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Church, 501 Fair Oaks, Arroyo Grande. A reception will follow at the church hall.

Donations may be sent to Family of Praise Prayer Group, in c/o St. Mary’s Church, 600 Avenue B, Sterling, IL 61081.
