Dukes cruise past Trojans

Mustangs nip Rockets at Tabor; Polo sweeps at home

The Dixon High School wrestling team had an easy time of it on Wednesday night, posting a 52-3 victory over visiting Mendota at The Pit.

Kylian Lally (145 pounds), Shane Emry (160), and Connor Sperling (195) posted pins for the Dukes, while Trent Brinkmeier (138), Trent Scott (182), and Ryan Troutman (285) won decisions.

Lena-Winslow 57, Newman 20: Jake Snow (145) and Brandon Ahlgrim (152) won by pin for the Comets in a home loss to the Panthers.

Also for Newman, Bryce Ivey (170) won by technical fall, while Elias Edmondson (138) took a decision.

Morrison 37, Rock Falls 36: Joe Eads (106), Ethan Fischbach (126), Hunter Ferguson (145), Austin Keller (152), and Thomas Dykema (170) won by pin as the Mustangs edged the Rockets in Rock Falls.

Keller’s pin was his 26th of the season, passing Mark McDonnell’s school record of 25 set in his state title season of 2011.

Konner Smith (120), Gage Butler (132), Rollie Elder (138), and Niles Ager (160) won by pin for the Rockets.

Panthers drop two: Erie-Prophetstown ventured to Orion and dropped a pair of duals, 60-15 against Sherrard, and 37-36 to the
host Chargers.

Jared Cole (145) and Noah Eads (195) won bouts against Sherrard, while Kerrick Cameron (113), Damien Schacherbauer (120), and Grady Todd (138) won against Orion.

Marcos take two: Ethan Cain (160) pinned a pair of opponents as Polo picked up a pair of home victories, 51-30 against Amboy, and 48-31 against St. Bede.

For the Clippers, Caleb Morris (132), Garrett Gerdes (138), and Damon Ullrich (145/152) won two bouts.


Sterling 96.5, Ottawa 86.5: Keaton Dir won a pair of events to lead the Golden Warriors past the Pirates at the Duis Center.

Dir led the way in the 200 freestyle (1:48.66) and 100 butterfly (54.25).

Girls bowling

Rock Island 2,341, Sterling 2,285: Magan Tintori had a 544 series, with a top game of 221, in the Golden Warriors’ loss to the Rocks at Milan Lanes.

Jordan Saoll topped Rock Island with a 526 series.
