ROCK FALLS – Ellis Edward “Tiny” Engel, 72, of Rock Falls, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at his home.

Ellis was born Jan. 3, 1942, in Galena, to Edward and Emma (Schoenfeld) Engel. He married Gloria Rosenow on May 15, 1971, in Morrison. Ellis worked as a mechanic at Shell in Morrison, then as a police officer in Morrison for 5 years. He then retired from Do It Best. Ellis enjoyed motorcycles, hunting, and hobby farming. He was an avid collector of model cars, trucks, and clocks. He loved his dog, Sarah. Ellis was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Rock Falls.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria; two brothers, Emmett Engel of Hanover and Eugene (Marilyn) Engel of Lena; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Rock Falls, with the Rev. Daniel Behmlander officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded.
