Mustangs edge Prophets

Rock Falls boys fall on road; Fulton tops Erie

The Morrison Mustangs outscored Prophetstown 4-0 in the fourth quarter to pick up a 41-38 Three Rivers North game at home on Friday.

Hunter Hamstra paved the way with 16 points for Morrison (9-12, 5-2), which trailed by a point after three quarters. The score was tied at 26 at half. Kaleb Church and Joey Brackemyer both added seven points for the Mustangs.

Grant Ames scored 16 points for Prophetstown (5-11, 2-4), and Seth Cady had eight points.

Lutheran 82, Rock Falls 51: The Crusaders' Thomas Kopelman scored 22 points, and became Lutheran's all-time leading scorer in a Big Northern West game in Rockford.

Jacob Mammosser led Rock Falls (5-12, 1-3) with 12 points, and Cory McCallister added nine points.

Kendall Lawson added 13 points for Lutheran (17-1, 6-0).

Fulton 54, Erie 34: The Steamers took control of a Three Rivers North game by outscoring the Cardinals 12-2 in the second quarter in Fulton.

Matt Dail made two 3-pointers and scored a game-high 14 points for Fulton (15-5, 5-2). Kyle Huebner added 11 points, and Jake Willging had 10 points.

Owen McConnell had nine points for Erie (0-19, 0-7).

Faith Christian 56, Galesburg Christian 48: Isaac Schuler's 20 points and 12 rebounds led the Falcons to an NICC road win.

Zach Lessman added 13 points, six assists and four steals for Faith (3-8, 2-2), which led 24-22 at halftime before outscoring Galesburg 32-26 in the second half.

Girls basketball

Riverdale 53, Bureau Valley 45: The Storm led 18-11 after one quarter, but couldn't fend off the Rams the rest of the way in a Three Rivers North loss in Port Byron.

Irini Petros led BV (7-12, 0-7) with 12 points and nine rebounds. Helena Osk Arnadottir and Darcy Kepner scored nine points apiece, with Kepner grabbing six boards and nabbing two steals.

Lauren Claus finished with 26 points, five steals and three assists for Riverdale (14-9, 7-3), while Sydney Mericle added 16 points and seven rebounds.

Stockton 56, West Carroll 26: The Thunder trailed 20-4 after one quarter and never recovered in an NUIC West loss in Savanna.

Abby Maike's 11 points paced West Carroll (3-17, 0-6). Kara Wright scored 17, and Kelsey Wright added 11 for Stockton (9-10, 3-3).
