Sheriff

Justin Heffran, 31, of Leaf River; 6:29 p.m. Thursday on North Pecatonica Road; no valid driver’s license, improper lighting; taken to Ogle County Jail and held in lieu of bond, and issued citation.

Two injured in Thursday crash

WHITESIDE COUNTY – Two people were hurt in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon at Galt Road and U.S. Route 30.

Whiteside County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene at 4:20 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies said that, according to witnesses, a vehicle driven by Edgar I. Rivera, 22, of Clinton, Iowa, failed to stop at a posted stop sign and struck a vehicle driven by Laura Shipman, 44, of Rock Falls.

Both drivers received non-life-threatening injuries and, along with a girl, were taken to CGH Medical Center in Sterling for observation. Rivera was cited on charges of disobeying a stop sign, no valid driver’s license, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was given a notice to appear in court.
