Do not make concessions to immigrants

Published: Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 1:15 a.m. CST

Regarding the Jan. 16 SVM article titled “1,200 immigrants get state driver’s licenses,” I feel that the new Illinois state law’s purpose is twofold.

First, the number of immigrants living in the state illegally can be determined by this from those who apply.

Second, this law could appease registered Hispanic voters come election time to vote for those who sponsor and stand by this law.

Enforcing immigration laws and border security should take precedence over making concessions to immigrants living in America without legal permission. Perhaps it is time to deploy “Well-regulated Militias” (per Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution) to achieve this?
