GALT – Charles F. Parker Sr., 84, of Galt, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at his home.

Charles was born Jan. 24, 1929, in Sterling, a son of Charles and Helen (Catton) Parker. He served in the Air Force. He married Mary Stees in 1951 in Dixon. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sterling.

Survivors include his wife, Mary of Galt; his children, Star (David) Wallingford of Rock Falls, Charles (Denise) Parker Jr. of West Plains, Mo., Grace Hurd of Dixon, Marsha Hussung of Galt, Venus (Russell) Brown of Tampico, Marshall (Sheila) Parker Sr. of Dixon, Patrick Parker and Benjamin Parker, both of Galt; a brother, Richard (Rita) Parker of Sterling; 27 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Teresa; a granddaughter; a great-granddaughter; a son-in-law; a daughter-in-law; three sisters; and a brother.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., with the rosary recited at 4:30 p.m., Friday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sterling, with the Rev. Adalberto Sanchez, celebrant, officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will be at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling.

A memorial has been established.
