WAUKEGAN (AP) – Authorities in Lake County say they’ve arrested two people suspected of stealing dozens of commercial air conditioners.

In a news release, the county sheriff’s department says two Wildwood residents – 36-year-old Kevin Blottiaux and 37-year-old Ricki Lucas – have confessed to the thefts, allowing detectives to clear 68 thefts of air conditioners between October and mid-December of last year. The department says the two were stealing air conditioners worth a total of more than $100,000 and selling them to area recycling companies for scrap.

They say the thefts ended when the two were caught stealing an air conditioner from a glass company in Waukegan.

Each man faces multiple counts of theft. Luca’s bail was set at $50,000 and Blottiaux’s was set at $100,000.
