Marcos double up Raiders

Brian Cavanaugh and Matthew Handel each scored 17 points as Polo doubled up AFC 78-39 on Tuesday in Polo.

The Marcos (17-2, 4-1 NUIC East) led 22-9 after one quarter and didn't look back. AJ Dollmeyer finished with 13 points and 13 rebounds, while Max Simmons added nine points and 10 boards.

Bobby Larke led AFC (5-7, 2-3) with eight points.

Newman 78, Erie 25: Dillan Heffelfinger paced a balanced attack with 11 points as the Comets routed the Cardinals in Sterling.

Noah McCarty added 10 points for Newman (16-0, 4-0 Three Rivers North).

Morrison 49, Riverdale 39: Hunter Hamstra tossed in 19 points as the Mustangs topped the visiting Rams.

Also for Morrison (7-11, 3-1 Three Rivers North), Kaleb Church and Bill Greul added 11 each.

Jake Gellerstedt hit five 3-pointers and led Riverdale (5-10, 1-3) with 19 points.

Fulton 56, Amboy 38: Jake Huebner scored 18 points to lead the Steamers past the Clippers in Fulton.

Also for Fulton (13-4, 3-1 Three Rivers North), Zach Barber had 16 points, and Seth Sanderson added 11.

Damon Quest led Amboy (2-12, 0-3) with 18 points, and Jordan Ernst added 10.

Eastland 74, West Carroll 47: Dalton Shaner poured in 45 points as the Cougars routed the Thunder in Savanna.

Shaner had 16 field goals, six of which were 3-pointers for Eastland (11-2, 4-0 NUIC West).

Trevor Jones scored 18 points for West Carroll (2-9, 0-4).

Fulton Unity 73, Faith 39: The Falcons had a rough outing in their conference matchup with Unity.

Zach Lessman led the way offensivley for Faith, with 14 points, followed closely by Hayden Sweet and Isaac Schuler, who had 12 and 10 points, respectively. Schuler also pulled in 10 rebounds to secure a double-double.

Girls

Sterling 54, Rochelle 33: Kaitlyn Bauer scored 19 points, 17 of which were in the first half, as the Golden Warriors handled the Hubs at Musgrove Fieldhouse.

Kiarra Harris finished with 14 points for Sterling (12-8), and Gabby Sandoval added 13.

Oregon 63, Stillman Valley 50: The Hawks' guard duo of Emy Wright and Sam Lambrigtsen combined for 49 points as the Hawks beat the Cardinals in Stillman Valley.

Wright hit six 3s and led Oregon (14-6, 5-1 Big Northern West) with 26 points, while Lambrigtsen added 23.

Abby Timm scored 15 points to lead the Cardinals (8-8, 2-3), and Macy Weaver added 13.

Lutheran 48, Rock Falls 43: The Rockets led after three quarters, but were outscored 12-4 in the fourth by the Crusaders in Rockford.

Dallas Clevenger led Rock Falls (6-13, 1-5) with 12 points, and Emily Sauer added 10.

Faith Christian 48, Fulton Unity 33: Sarah Smith had 16 points, eight steals and six assists to lead the Falcons past the Knights in Fulton.

Also for Faith Christian (6-4), Stacia Hamill had 12 points, and Katie Cover added nine rebounds and five assists.

Jolynn Fredrick led Unity with 12 points.

Men's basketball

Black Hawk 79, Sauk Valley 71: The Skyhawks connected on just 14 of 29 free throws in a road loss to the Braves.

Jacoby Posley led Sauk Valley (9-6, 1-1 Arrowhead) with 20 points, David Newton had 12 and Tramel Rideout added 10.
