Dixon goes big for Dukes

Ryan Dixon rolled a 726 series to lead the Dixon boys bowling team to a 3,639-3,550 win at Rochelle on Tuesday afternoon.

The Dukes claimed six team points, by taking the last game 1,280-1,089 and the overall series.

Dixon's games were 223, 257 and 246 in amassing his big series. Lucas Bonnette was next with a 695 series.

Steven Demoff paced Rochelle with a 693 series.

Girls bowling

Dixon 3,220, Rochelle 2,764: Emily Quaco rolled a 644 series as the Duchesses took all 10 points from the Hubs at T-Byrd Lanes in Rochelle.

Quaco had games of 236, 173 and 235. Margaret Thomas was next with a 543 series, and Ashley Currier added a 541.

Marina Eraas paced Rochelle with a 508.

Oregon 2,980, Mendota 2,874: Alyson Scheidecker's 604 series led the Hawks to a road win over the Trojans.

Also for Oregon, Victoria Barnhart (563), Karissa Corbin (530) and Abigail Scheidecker (513) broke 500. The Hawks took five of seven team points.

Megan Vickrey had a 664 series for Mendota.

Swimming

Warriors win triangular: Keaton Dir and Blake Ruiz each won two individual races as Sterling (153) topped Rockford Christian (96) and Morrison (57) at the Duis Center.

Dir won the 200 freestyle (1 minute, 51.85 seconds) and 500 freestyle (5:05.12), while Ruiz led the way in the 200 IM (2:16.38) and 100 breaststroke (1:08.19).

Wrestling

Comets win two: Jake Snow (145/152) and Brady Rude (160) each won two bouts as Newman gained a pair of wins in Oregon, 37-33 over the host Hawks and 60-12 against Mendota.

Oregon also topped Mendota 60-12. Dominic Marchetti (145) won two bouts for the Hawks.

Alleman 39, Fulton 26: Adam Hodge (138) and Zach Jenkins (195) recorded pins for the Steamers in a home loss to the Pioneers.

Jake Hoffman (126), Mike Pidde (160) and Steven Balk (285) won decisions for Fulton.
