Books can help beat the winter blahs

Get busy at local libraries

The holidays are past, and January’s long stretch of winter still has weeks to run. For many, the newness of Christmas presents has begun to wane. Many just give up and become a schlump in front of the nearest television.

Winter, however, doesn’t have to be that way.

Almost every community in Vermilion County offers a convenient and often free alternative: libraries.

Many libraries offer special programs for all ages, from pre-schoolers to senior citizens. Many are tied to reading, such as book clubs, but not all.

Check with your local library to see what might be available. Most are open convenient hours, and many offer online information available any time – including reserving books.

Don’t let the winter blahs weigh you down this year. Find out what’s going on at the local library and get busy.
