Darlene M. ‘Dolly’ Brockman

STERLING – Darlene M. “Dolly” Brockman entered the gates of heaven Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Dolly, to all who knew and loved her, was born March 29, 1929, in Clinton, Iowa, to D.Q. and Dorothea (Doty) Thielbar. She married James W. Brockman on March 15, 1947. They were together for 58 years until James’ passing on Aug. 15, 2005. She enjoyed spending time with her favorite coon dog and companion, “Rooster.”

Dolly has left behind her son, James (Debra) Brockman Jr. of Milledgeville; three daughters, Diana Henson of New Smyrna, Fla., Rozann (Bill) Strong of Rock Falls, and Dorothy McBride of Dixon; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-grandchild due in September; one great-great-grandson; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

In heaven, she has joined her husband, James; sisters, Ruth Jewell and Jean Williams; brother, Wayne Thielbar; grandson, Jamie M. Brockman; and son-in-law, Gary Henson; as well as many more family and friends to welcome her.

Dolly will be laid to rest next to James on Jan. 17, 2014, at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday and a service at 11 a.m. Friday at McDonald Funeral Home, 1001 12th Ave., Rock Falls, before she is taken to be with James at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. The Rev. Les Funderberg from Open Bible Church in Rock Falls will conduct the services.

A memorial has been established to PADS Homeless Shelter in Sterling.
