Published: Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014 1:15 a.m. CDT

Starting at 9 a.m. Feb. 1, the Dixon Public School District Foundation will sponsor its annual Stupor Bowl fundraiser at Reagan Middle School.

At the event’s silent auction, here are a few of the items that are available to bid on: An autographed football from Sean Considine of the 2013 Super Bowl winning team, Baltimore Ravens; Cubs tickets; Blackhawk tickets; an autographed picture of Alejandro DeAza from the Chicago White Sox; and many gift baskets put together by the DPS staff and friends.

New items are added daily, so for a complete list of auction items and other Stupor Bowl details, go to

All proceeds from this event help purchase educational items for Dixon Public Schools that greatly enhance the students’ learning experience. Since the first Stupor Bowl in 1997, the event has raised almost $150,000 for educational tools such as computer equipment and software for classrooms, educational software, books, laboratory equipment, etc.

We hope you will be able to join us on Feb. 1 for a fun-filled day. If not as a participant, come watch the competition or bid on a silent auction item.

Note to readers: Dianne Frye is the Stupor Bowl silent auction coordinator, and Tom Wadsworth is the event coordinator.
