Five new hires for Rock Falls Police

ROCK FALLS – Since Sept. 1, the Rock Falls Police Department has added five new members to its staff: three officers and two dispatchers.

The new hires were brought on to fill vacant positions, Police Chief Mike Kuelper said.

They were formally introduced to the city Tuesday at the Rock Falls City Council meeting.

The city’s new officers are Nick Butler, Scott Allspaugh and Chad Hermes. New dispatchers are Kari Anderson and Rachelle Moreno.

The department now employs 20 sworn officers, up from its 2012 total of 19. But Kuelper said the number still isn’t ideal.

“It would be nice to increase it to one more, so we could have three detectives,” he said. “But at this time, due to budget restraints, there are no funds available.”

He said he hoped to increase that number by the end of the year.
