MORRISON – Lola Mae Shirk, 94, of Morrison, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at her home. She worked for the Whiteside County Assessor’s Office for more than 20 years.

Lola Mae was born Sept. 28, 1919, in Morrison, the daughter of Roy and Grace (Diehl) Twombly. She married Ellsworth G. Shirk on April 13, 1941, in Morrison. He preceded her in death on June 23, 1971. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Morrison.

Survivors include three daughters, Betty (John) Monnett of Oshkosh, Wis., Cindy Connelly of Morrison, and Joanne (Michael Motia) Kutzman of Meadow Vista, Calif.; one son, William (Sherrie) Shirk of Morrison; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Elizabeth McKim of Morrison.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Morrison. A private family funeral will be Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Michael Motia officiating. Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison.
