DIXON – Constance Joyce Utley, 83, of Dixon, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Dixon Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born July 22, 1930, in Pontiac, the daughter of Ira and Tracy (Casper) Mossberger. Constance married Dr. John Utley on July 23, 1955. She had been a play therapist at University of Chicago, and a writer and poet upon retirement. She was a supporter of many nonprofit organizations, including the World Wildlife Fund, Animal Humane Society and Anti-Cruelty Society.

She is survived by her husband of Dixon; one daughter, Sally Utley, and one son, Peter Utley, both of Chicago.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Wanda Leather and Audrey Gresham; and one brother, Jack Mossberger.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be at a later date.
