Whiteside County 4-H activities planned

Sewing, snack course planned

STERLING – There will be a sewing and nutritious snack workshop from 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 17 at CGH Medical Center, 100 E. LeFevre Road.

Those who chose to sew will make two pillow cases. One will be taken home, the other donated to a CGH cancer patient.

There will be three stations for making snacks, including smoothies.

Junior leaders to meet in Decatur

The 4-H Junior Leadership Conference will be Feb. 8-9 at the Decatur Hotel and Conference Center, 4191 U.S. 36 West, Decatur.

The Saving the World Through Leadership conference is for 4-H’ers and friends in seventh and eighth grade.

The cost is $135 and includes all meals, lodging, and conference supplies.

Sign-up for annual ski trip

MOUNT CARROLL – The deadline for Whiteside County 4-H members to sign up for the Carroll County 4-H Federation annual ski trip to Chestnut Ski Resort is Wednesday.

The $40 cost includes skis or snowboard, lift ticket, and lesson.

Rates are lower for skiers with their own equipment.

Mail checks, made payable to the Carroll County 4-H Federation, c/o Leanne Rahn, to 807D S. Clay St., Mount Carroll, IL 61053.

Volunteers sought for show

MORRISON – Plans are underway for this year’s fair show.

To volunteer in the evaluating process and planning, call Alice at 815-772-4075.

Beef weigh-in deadline nears

SHANNON – Beef weigh-in for beef rate-of-gain and state fair beef steers will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon Feb. 1 at Jim Ruter’s farm, 14584 Shannon Road.

Members to cook and serve food

MORRISON – 4-H Federation members will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Whiteside County Extension office, 100 E. Knox St. Birthday kits will be assembled. Members will serve food at 7 p.m. Feb. 16 at the PADS Shelter. Those 12 and older are asked to arrive by 5 p.m. to prepare the food.

The ambassadors will meet at 2 p.m. Feb. 9 at the extension office.
