EAST PEORIA (AP) – An elderly man who was injured in a November tornado in the north-central Illinois community of Washington has died.

Tazewell County Coroner James Jeff Baldi says 84-year-old Charles Koonce died Thursday at a nursing home in East Peoria.

The coroner says Koonce’s injuries from the tornado weren’t the primary cause of Koonce’s death, and he had been ill before the storm. But the coroner says the tornado that destroyed Koonce’s home left him with broken bones that “definitely compromised his status.”

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
