Two hurt in two-vehicle crash

OGLE COUNTY – Two people were injured in a a two-vehicle crash Saturday on state Route 64, a half-mile west of state Route 251 in Ogle County.

State troopers responded to the scene at 10:43 a.m. An investigation revealed that a pickup truck driven by Daniel L. Campbell, 52, of Dixon, was eastbound on Route 64 when Campbell tried to pass a car driven by Veronica L. Day, 51, of Bloomfield, Ind. Campbell lost control on snow-covered pavement, and his truck’s passenger side rear-ended Day’s car. Campbell’s truck then rolled several times before coming to rest on the driver’s side in a field north of the roadway. Day’s car came to rest in a south ditch.

Campbell was cited for driving too fast for conditions. He was taken to Rochelle Community Hospital by Linn-Scott-Rock Fire personnel, as was a passenger in his truck, Therese L. Campbell, 51, of Dixon.

One hurt Friday in two-vehicle crash

WHITESIDE COUNTY – A Wisconsin man was hurt Friday in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 88 in Whiteside County.

State police responded to the scene at 12:11 a.m. Their investigation revealed that a car driven by Savanna R. Gonyier, 18, of East Moline, was eastbound in the driving lane, just ahead of a vehicle with a trailer in the passing lane, driven by Mark R. Zukowski, 41, of Lake Geneva, Wis. Gonyier’s vehicle slowed, veering into the left lane, and collided with the trailer pulled by Zukowski’s vehicle. Zukowski’s vehicle spun, coming to final rest on the right shoulder.

Zukowski was taken by Erie Ambulance to Illini Hospital in Silvis. His condition was unavailable Sunday. Gonyier was cited for improper lane usage and no insurance.
