Girl Scouts taking cookie orders now

Published: Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014 1:15 a.m. CDT

Local Girl Scouts with Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois are taking orders through Jan. 22 for this year’s cookie program.

Boxes are $4 each. The cookies are Do-Si-Dos, Samoas, Tagalongs, Thin Mints, Trefoils, and Savannah Smiles, the six most popular cookies instead of the traditional eight. Those wishing to order cookies, but who are not approached by a Girl Scout can contact cookies4you@girlscoutsni.org and have their order sent to a local scout.

Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois will add 5 for Five, an incentive program for customers who buy five or more boxes of cookies in a single order, in which customers can enter a drawing to win 25 boxes of cookies. Each purchase of five boxes equals one entry.

Scouts have the opportunity to give back to their community in the cookie program through Cookies for the Military or the Community Gift of Caring. Girls can choose to offer customers the chance to buy cookies for soldiers or for a community organization designated by the troop.

Among the counties covered by GSNI are Carroll, Lee, Ogle, and Whiteside.
