New tourism group website up and running

MOUNT CARROLL – Travelers to Carroll County now have a website to help them discover the sites and attractions of the county.

The site,, is functional. The old site,, will be discontinued.

The Carroll County Hotel Motel Tax Board is dedicated to promoting and supporting local businesses, service providers, and commerce by marketing Carroll County as a popular tourism destination in Illinois.

Board members include representatives of the local hospitality industry, county government, and business proprietors, and are appointed by the Carroll County Board of Directors.

The website is the county’s official tourism information website.

The information, services, and resources provided are made available by the CCHMTB, and are sponsored exclusively by the local hospitality industry.

The board welcomes information and submissions from all Carroll County tourism related businesses including hotels, restaurants, attractions, museums, chambers of commerce, and other service providers.

Submissions and event listings can be made via the links at the bottom of every page on the website.

According to the Illinois Bureau of Tourism statistics on the economic impact generated by the tourism industry in 2012, visitors to Carroll County generated $20 million in overall economic impact, which is a 2.9 percent increase over the previous year.

Local tax revenues generated by visitor spending were up as well.

Any local business or service provider that would be of interest to tourists visiting Carroll County can go to to list their business.

Go to to list local events, celebrations, festivals, fundraising occasions, or social functions that would be of interest to tourists visiting the county.

Both services are a free and effective method of advertising with a listing on the Visit Carroll County Illinois Tourism website.
