IDOT preparing roads for next winter storm

CHICAGO (AP) — The Illinois Department of Transportation says most of the primary roads in the state have been cleared after a winter storm.

Transportation officials said Friday that crews have turned their attention to shoulders, turn lanes, ramps and intersections. They're also starting to prepare for another winter storm due in Illinois over the weekend.

IDOT has about 1,700 trucks assigned to snow duty across the state. They also have nearly 3,700 full and part-time employees handling storm cleanup.
