Well, I know you all want to hear Mr. Catmatt and his special fishing tips, but who's the awesome one here? Taya is.
Well, to start off the new year, me and my dad were going to go to Alabama. My grandpa and grandma had given us a little bit to help pay for the trip. We were planning on going down to Huntsville to fish.
So the night before we were planning to leave, I grabbed my suitcase and packed. I stayed up late, so I was tired enough to sleep in the truck.
So I go to bed around 3 in the morning, then my dad woke me up around 8 and told me to get ready to go. I got ready, and we got in the truck and took off.
We went to LeClaire and got our bait. Then my dad told me that he couldn't drive anymore and he had to go home to take a nap. I was a little confused. but then he told me that last night he had been really sick with the flu, so we went home.
He took a 4-5 hour nap and he said he felt better, so we went off to go again. We got down to Effingham, and he started to feel bad again, so we got a hotel room, stayed overnight and swam in the morning.
It was fun either way. Even though we didn't get to fish, we got to go shopping, which everybody likes to do. So after that, we got home.
Well, anyways, Christmas break is almost over and we go back to school soon, but basketball starts, so that's good.
Spring break isn't too far away. Maybe we might get to try this whole trip thing over when he's not sick sometime.
I did the youth season this year for hunting and didn't get anything, but I went out every day I could and tried. I saw a few. I got one shot that barely missed.
Next time I go hunting, I'll get him. During the summer when it's warmer, me and my dad will go fishing, so I can catch a bigger fish than him, which he knows is going to happen.
Even though this new year got off to a weird start, we'll get out fishing again sometime soon and patch that up. I'd like to go back down to LaSalle Lake and catch some more bluecats like last time, when I caught my biggest fish.
I liked it so much that I had pneumonia and I wouldn't leave. I even got to drive the boat around. It would be fun to go down there and maybe catch an even bigger fish than I did last time.
Well, anyway, hope you are all staying involved with fishing lately, even though it's cold! I'll end this just like my dad does – Go Catfish!!
