DAVIS JUNCTION – A longtime felon is wanted in connection with a residential burglary near Davis Junction on Christmas Eve, according to a news release from the Ogle County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s detectives have obtained a $500,000 warrant for Terry D. Maxwell, 56, who was last seen fleeing the scene of a home burglary in a maroon 1999 Concord on Christmas Eve, according to the news release.

Authorities say that just before 2 p.m., deputies responded to a call about a burglary in progress at a home in the 15000 block of East Route 72. The suspect threatened someone in the home with a metal bar, the release said, and then fled, at which point he led sheriff’s deputies on a high-speed chase, which ended as the man entered Winnebago County.

According to the release, authorities found the car several days later.

Maxwell was released from the Illinois Department of Corrections on parole in September after serving time for his most recent conviction for residential burglary.

He was first sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections in 1981 for home invasion. Maxwell has since been convicted of residential burglary seven times, according to the Department of Corrections website. Other past felony convictions include burglary, aggravated assault, and possession of a stolen car.

Maxwell was last known to be driving a white 1997 Chevrolet Malibu sedan with Illinois registration R998548, the release said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Rockford Area Crime Stoppers at 815-963-7867 or Ogle/Lee County Crime Stoppers at 888-228-4488.
