OREGON – Jimmie D. Ruth, 80, of Oregon, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at Rockford Memorial Hospital.
Jimmie was born Sept. 27, 1933 in Unionville, Mo., the son of Ronald and Beulah (Childers) Ruth. He married Delores Saldana on July 13, 1957, in Wichita, Kan. She died April 24, 2006. He was an Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. Jimmie lived in Oregon for more than 30 years, moving from Bettendorf, Iowa. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Oregon and the Experimental Aircraft Association. He was an electrical engineer, employed by Byron Nuclear Station for more than 20 years, retiring in 1992.
He is survived by his son, Anthony Ruth of Rockford; daughters, Stephanie (Samuel) Watson of Wilmington, N.C., Lisa (Darrell) Reber of Byron, and Ronda (Matthew) Stephan of Kalispell, Mont.; and grandchildren, Adam Reber, Nathan Watson, Bailey Watson, Lindsey Stephan, and Jordan Stephan.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; and stepmother, Gladys Ruth.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday and the funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Oregon, with the Rev. Joseph Naill, celebrant, officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Unionville Cemetery in Unionville, Mo. Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home in Oregon is handling arrangements.
