THOMSON – Bald eagles arrived in record number at Lock and Dam 13, north of Fulton.

Stewards of the Upper Mississippi River Refuge will host free viewing tours from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays, today through Jan 25, and Fridays, Feb. 7 and 21, starting at Ingersoll Wetlands Learning Center, 7071 Riverview Road.

An afternoon tour will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Feb. 16.

Tourists will visit various locations along the refuge. They may bring cameras and binoculars.

More than 1,100 eagles were counted in mid-December.
