Drinking party broken up in Byron

BYRON – Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies and Byron police arrested five people Saturday night at an underage drinking party in the 200 block of Crestview Drive, in rural Byron.

Officers responded to a report of underage drinking at 11:11 p.m. After investigating, they arrested Nelson A. Ziel, 20, of Byron; Justin T. Bennett, 20, of Mount Morris; Jeremey Mott, 20, of Byron; Salvador Sanchez, 18, of Byron; and a 16-year-old boy from Byron, all for unlawful consumption of alcohol as a minor. All were taken to Ogle County Jail.

One injured in Ogle County crash

OGLE COUNTY – An Oregon woman was hurt Friday night in a single-vehicle crash in the 3500 block of North Leaf River Road.

A vehicle driven by Courtney K. Barcai, 21, was southbound when she lost control, and the vehicle entered the east ditch. Barcai was taken to SwedishAmerican Hospital by Mount Morris fire department ambulance staff, complaining of neck, back, and hip pain. Her condition was unavailable Sunday.

Two hurt Friday in head-on crash

OGLE COUNTY – Two women were injured Friday in a crash in the 11000 block of North Baileyville Road.

Ogle County and Stephenson County sheriff’s deputies, Forreston police, and Forreston fire and ambulance personnel responded to the scene at 8:58 a.m. An investigation revealed that a black Jeep Liberty driven by Candace N. Keller, 20, of German Valley, was southbound on Baileyville Road when she tried to pass another southbound vehicle. Keller struck a northbound Chrysler Sebring driven by Crystal A. Schafer, 45, of Amboy.

Keller and Schafer were treated on-scene by Forreston emergency medical services for minor injuries. Schafer refused any further medical treatment and was released at the scene. Keller was taken to FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport by a family member with a minor ankle injury. Keller’s condition was unavailable Sunday. The accident remains under investigation.

Drinking party broken up in Dixon

DIXON – Dixon police made one arrest and issued tickets Saturday after responding to an underage drinking party in the 700 block of East Chamberlin Street.

Police responded to a call about the party at 10:42 p.m. When police arrived, several people fled from the house, with officers finding some outside of the house and in nearby yards. Breanne C. deLong, 18, of , was arrested for unlawful consumption of liquor, and was released. Police also issued 13 city ordinance tickets for unlawful consumption of liquor.

Arrests in burglary investigation

DIXON – Four youths were arrested Saturday after Dixon police investigated a call about a possible break-in in the 800 block of Madison Avenue.

Police received the call about 3:11 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they saw four juveniles running out of the back of the house. All four were stopped and arrested.

A 13-year-old boy, a 14-year-old boy, and a 14-year-old girl were charged with residential burglary, criminal damage to property greater than $500, and criminal trespass to a residence. They were taken to a juvenile facility in Peoria. An 11-year-old girl was charged with criminal trespass to a residence and released to her parents.
