Facility’s decorations are a must-see

Published: Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 1:15 a.m. CDT

I was privileged to sing a capella at Heritage Square on Dec. 26. Although I have sung there a few times in the past, I have never been there when all the Christmas decorations are up.

I cannot even count how many beautifully decorated trees in various colors they have  in all the wings, and in every nook, wall, etc. I thought I was the only one who goes “gung-ho” for Christmas. I was seriously mistaken.

It was nice to see a manger display at the front. Of all the trees, I think my favorite is the one facing McKinney Street; it was red and gold and quite elegant in its simplicity.

Because I did not have a car and arrived there 2 hours early, I was glad to have spent time talking to some of the residents, walking all around the facility, admiring all the trimmings, and appreciating all the time and talent to make it happen. I hope you will take the time to see them.

Hats off to Bonnie O’Connell and her staff for running a great facility, a nice home, a wonderful place to live “when the time comes.”
