Warriors fall at DeKalb

Sterling Thornton scored 12 points to pace Sterling in a 53-37 loss to West Chicago on Monday at the Chuck Dayton tournament in DeKalb.

The Golden Warriors (3-5) were within striking distance at 44-36 through three quarters, but managed just a single free throw, by Isaiah Celestino, in the final quarter.

Zach Rehmert added eight points for Sterling. John Konchar paced West Chicago with 17 points.

Girls basketball

AFC 49, Somonauk 28: Allison Prestegaard had 11 points and eight rebounds to lead the Raiders past the Bobcats at the Amboy tournament.

Also for AFC (9-2), Hope Friday had eight points and three steals, while Krista Beach and Kayla Colwell each added six points.

Madison Kawall led Somonauk with nine points.

Amboy 62, Midland 23: Kaitlyn Liebing paced a balanced attack with 16 points as the Clippers clobbered the Timberwolves at the Amboy tournament.

Also for Amboy (7-4), Delaney Wilhelm scored 12 points, and Elizabeth Ortgiesen added 10.

Kelsey Russell scored nine points for Midland.
