PROPHETSTOWN – Jill Marie Ringenberg, 58, of Prophetstown, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Jill was born Jan. 31 1955, in Morrison, the daughter of Jareld “Red” and Kathryn (Melton) Dail. She was a 1973 graduate of Prophetstown Community High School and attended Sauk Valley Junior College in Dixon. Jill married Alan Ringenberg on June 16, 1974, at First Methodist Church in Prophetstown.

In 1979, Jill began work in the sales department of Penberthy in Prophetstown. Although the company changed names over the years, she continued to work in sales until her death.  

Jill was a member of First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown. Over the years, Jill was active in the community, serving as an assistant Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts, and as cheerleading coach at the high school. She was a board member of Prophetstown School District for 18 years, with 3 of those years as president and a member of the Education Foundation. She also served as secretary on the school board. She was a Master Member of the Illinois Association of School Boards where she served on the executive committee. She also was a member of the LeaderShop Academy, where she recently acquired the designation of Fellow. Her greatest joy in life was her family. Once she became a grandmother, she felt her life was truly blessed, and she relished in the time she spent with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Alan; one daughter, Jennifer (Stuart) Malone, and one son, Greg Ringenberg, both of Prophetstown; four grandchildren, Jacob, Lauren, and Carter Malone, and Olivia Ringenberg; one sister, Jerri Robinson of Prophetstown; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home in Prophetstown. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown, with the Rev. Greg Olson, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown.

Memorials have been established to the Prophetstown-Lyndon-Tampico Education Foundation and Henry C. Adams Memorial Library in Prophetstown.
