Corrections for Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013

n During a hearing Monday, the Brandt family was joined by a large group of friends and supporters. In a story in Tuesday’s edition about a sentence for Karyn McCallister, they were misidentified as a church congregation.

The plea deal presented during that hearing was negotiated by the Illinois attorney general’s office. In Tuesday’s edition, an article incorrectly said the Whiteside County state’s attorney negotiated the deal.

n In a Page A1 photo in Tuesday’s Telegraph, the aunt who was sliding down the hill in a sled with 4-year-old Mark Youngren was identified incorrectly. It was Kasi Serrano.

We regret the errors.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
