Mary Elizabeth Tuttle

STERLING – Mary Elizabeth Tuttle, 94, of Sterling, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013. 

Mary was born May 4, 1919, north of Sterling, the daughter of William and Nellie Wetzel. She attended Capp School and Sterling High School. The family moved to Sterling in 1935. Mary worked at J.K. Chester Co. and Bergner’s. In 1939, she married Carter C. Tuttle. He preceded her in death in 2006. They lived in Sterling, and she commuted every day to Erie to operate a ladies apparel shop with her mother. Mary retired in 1990.

She was a charter member of Lake Erie Country Club, and loved golfing, walking, and gardening.

She also was preceded in death by her mother, father, and her grandmother.

There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Reformed Mennonite Cemetery in Sterling. Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling is handling arrangements.
