MORRISON – Ida Mae Balk, 92, of Resthave Nursing Home in Morrison, formerly of Fulton, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at the nursing home. She owned and operated Balk Construction Co. with her husband, and most recently was a bookkeeper at First Trust and Savings Bank in Albany.

She was born July 5, 1921, in Fulton, the daughter of Ray and Reka (Vogel) Dykhuizen. She married Paul Balk on Jan. 18, 1941, in Clinton, Iowa. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1985. She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Fulton.

Survivors include one daughter, Paula (Michael) Welsh of Morrison; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Thelma Van Vuren of Fulton.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Brian Balk; three other children in infancy; and one grandson.

Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday and the funeral at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Fulton, with Ken Renkes, director of congregational care at Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, officiating. Private interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton.

Memorials have been established to Resthave Nursing Home and First Christian Reformed Church.
