MORRISON – Mary Jane VenHuizen, 71, of Morrison, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at her home. She was employed for 35 years by the University of Illinois Extension Service, working primarily with the 4-H program. 

Mary Jane was born April 22, 1942, in Morrison, the daughter of Jay and Janet (Buikema) Tichler. She married John VenHuizen on May 19, 1961, in Morrison. She was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Susan (Gabe) Gomez, and one son, Bob (Nadine) VenHuizen, both of Morrison; two grandchildren, Kayla (Jon) Bass and Sarah VenHuizen; one sister, JoAnn (Rev. Jim) Stralow of Freeport; one brother, Arlyn (Marilyn) Tichler of Morrison; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation was Tuesday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Morrison. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, with Ken Renkes, director of congregational care, officiating. Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison.
