Two injured in crash early Saturday

LEE COUNTY – Two people received minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash Saturday on Bloody Gulch Road west of U.S. Route 52 in Lee County.

State police responded to the scene at 1:59 a.m. A vehicle driven by Mathew K. Johnson, 33, of Sterling, was westbound on Bloody Gulch Road while he was texting while driving. His vehicle crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic, striking a vehicle driven by Brian D. Ketcham, 50, of Sublette.

Johnson was charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage, texting while driving, and no insurance. Neither driver's condition was available Sunday.

One injured Saturday in Ogle County crash

OGLE COUNTY – An Ashton woman received minor injuries Saturday when the truck she was driving crashed because of icy conditions.

Ogle County Sheriff's deputies responded to the scene at 9 a.m. in the 8000 block of state Route 38 East. A pickup truck driven by Kristen Hickey, 20, was westbound when the vehicle slid off of the roadway, entering a ditch. Hickey was taken by Ashton Ambulance to Rochelle Community Hospital. Her condition was unavailable Sunday.

Rock Falls ends snow emergency

ROCK FALLS – The winter snow emergency issued Friday for Rock Falls was cancelled Saturday.

The initial emergency was to last until today, Rock Falls police personnel said.
