MORRISON – Jesse Roy Jones, 22, of Morrison, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013.

Jesse was born Aug. 30, 1991, in Prophetstown, the son of Bruce A. and Rebecca J. (Arnold) Jones. Jesse enjoyed a diverse and hands-on learning experience through his parents’ North Farm Home School, from which he graduated with a high school diploma. He married Deneé R. Stone on March 16, 2013, in Clinton, Iowa.

Jesse was lovingly employed at Cindy Jean’s Restaurant up until the recent devastating Prophetstown fire. Afterward, he took up landscaping, furniture installation, construction with the Amish, and any other work he could find, in order to provide for his wife. He worked long hours, and never gave less than his best work at every job he had, and enjoyed his relationships with all his bosses and supervisors.

Jesse was a “devoted servant” at Open Bible Fellowship in Morrison, and a member of the Morrison Grand Squares Square Dance Club. He pursued quality in all areas of his life, always willing to pay more for healthy and wholesome food, and choosing the best possible theater and seat in which to watch the latest film. He loved to read, and had a deep, creative spirit that spilled into everything, from long talks about the character of God, to the many love letters he wrote his wife throughout their relationship. At certain points in his life, Jesse took up painting miniature figurines, drawing with lead pencil, and digital art, such as photography and video. He also completed 5 months of mission work in Kijabe, Kenya, during the winter of 2012, where he felt God cemented in him a servant’s heart as he served chai to patients at the local hospital. Upon his return from Kenya, he strove to find ways to put his quiet, but willing soul to work doing whatever God called him to do. He was a man who desired nothing for himself, but only to serve the Lord, and love his wife as fiercely and compassionately as possible.

Survivors include his wife, Deneé; his parents, Bruce and Becky Jones of Prophetstown; his paternal grandparents, David and Marian Jones of Wisconsin; three sisters, Kate Jones of Wisconsin and Clara Jones and Helen Jones, both of Prophetstown; five brothers, Timothy Jones of California, Sam Jones of Prophetstown, Emlyn Jones of Vermont, and Isaiah Jones and Lael Jones, both of Prophetstown.

A memorial visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today and a celebration of life service at 4 p.m. today at Open Bible Fellowship, with Pastor Chris Byrd and Ben Johnson of Open Bible Fellowship officiating. Interment will be private. Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Fulton is handling arrangements.
