Too many cops at traffic stop; not enough for distress call

Published: Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 1:15 a.m. CDT

Two weeks ago on Dixon Avenue, in the daylight, my grandson was texting on his phone and was stopped by the state police. Before long, there were two state police cars and three Rock Falls police cars at the scene.

The reason was that he had an outstanding warrant for a traffic ticket.

I’m not questioning him being stopped, but why five police cars?

But then, one state police car being sent to investigate a person along the highway begging for someone to help him?

The first thing they should have done was to send one, two, three, four or five cars or more to the scene before thinking, Ho-hum, just another dead end.

Surely that officer and the complete state police should be heavily reprimanded and suspended.

Because of the lateness, the man died.
