WAUKEGAN (AP) – A Lake County judge has given a 110-year prison sentence to a man convicted in the 2007 killing of a suburban Chicago woman.

Montago Suggs was sentenced Tuesday in Waukegan. Lake County Judge Daniel Shanes told the 29-year-old he wants him to “spend the rest of your days in prison.”

Suggs was convicted in September in the shooting death of 22-year-old Melinda Morrell of Round Lake Park at a Check ‘n Go in Waukegan.

The News-Sun reports Suggs apologized to Morrell’s family and said he wanted them to know he didn’t kill Morrell. He said he’s “not a monster.”
