ROCK FALLS – Dorothy E. Schlomer, 70, of Rock Falls, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

She was born Nov. 13, 1943, in Streator, the daughter of Fred W. and Dorothy Eileen (Williams) Oyen. She married Loren J. Schlomer on June 25, 1967, in Roanoke, Ill. Dorothy had owned and operated the “The Love Shop,” a Bible gift shop, at the Peru mall for 22 years. For the past 23 years, she co-pastored Amazing Grace of Sterling with her husband, Pastor Loren. Dorothy was an avid fisherman, having loved going to Wisconsin. She also was a representative for Premier Design Jewelry.

Surviving are her husband, Loren; her daughter, Linda (Michael) Plant of Broken Arrow, Okla.; and her granddaughter, Deanna Plant.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, Fred, Bill, Dale and David.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday and the funeral at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Amazing Grace, 512 Second Ave., Sterling, with the Rev. Lonnie Hilton officiating. McDonald Funeral Homes are handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Amazing Grace would be appreciated.
