Howard leads SHS bowlers

Destinee Howard's 637 series lifted the Sterling girls bowling team to a 2,779-2,694 victory against DeKalb on Thursday at Blackhawk Lanes.

Howard had games of 224, 198 and 215. Erin Tabor and Magan Tintori were next with series of 488 and 474, respectively.

Maddy Joris had a 532 series for the Barbs.

Dixon 2,826, Kaneland 2,362: Margaret Thomas had a 546 series, one more than teammate Jenna Longan, to lead the Duchesses past the Knights at Mardi Gras Lanes in DeKalb.

Thomas had the lone 200 game for Dixon, a 201 in her first game.

Michelle Bohanek led Kaneland with a 429 series.

Wrestling

Sterling 57, Streator 13: Tyrone Long (106 pounds), Ivan Mendoza (113), Austin Olalde (138), Tanner Massey (170), Treaven Barron (182), Bryant Lilly (195), Will Canales (220) and Cariel Beasley (285) won bouts for the Golden Warriors in a road win over the Bulldogs.

Erie-Prophetstown 40, Morrison 20: Phoenix Parks (120), Ethan Fischbach (126) and Austin Keller (160) won by pin as the Mustangs topped the Panthers in Erie.

Dylan Binion (152) won by pin for Morrison.

Camanche, Iowa 53, Fulton 30: Cole Grant (132 pounds), Aaron Field (138), Tristan Smith (152) and Steven Balk (285) each recorded pins for the Steamers in a home loss to Camanche, Iowa.
